How do I video?

A video that has recently made rounds in Airsoft forums is this:

At first, you may be thinking
Aren't these players shooting way too much?
Aren't these players hurting others unnecessarily?
Don't these players have poor taste in music?

While these are valid concerns, this would've been uneventful if the group of players involved were dedicated to producing an exceptional video. What's more concerning is the field's response; they didn't make any statement about what happened and they haven't banned any players if any wrongdoing occurred. Instead the field decided to ban equipment categorically, which is a no-no.

The main issue with this video isn't the egregious expense involved in all of the stuff the players have purchased, nor is it the painful ropes of BBs that have been slung. The video was not given proper context, which gives the illusion that this is a normal game of Airsoft. Also, the followup edit to the description was weak. (this is a not-normal game so it's ok! please don't hate me ;_;)

When outsiders who are considering playing see videos like this without context, they're turned away believing that this is a regular occurrence. In addition, it allows anti-gunners to intentionally take the video out of context to use as a justification for a complete Airsoft ban. These would both be undesirable, so it's important to make your videos look competent.

If you play Airsoft and you're determined to make a professional video to make you look good, here's a few ideas:
  • Have a clear title and description explaining what the video is about (Do I really need to explain this?)
  • If the video is about something in Airsoft that doesn't usually happen, include a short intro/synopsis in the video (Playing an weird game? Explain the rules!)
  • Don't have a 10+ second intro (I skip half the video if you do, just saying)
  • If you want to use music, pick something that isn't shit

Now for some speculation; I suspect that this ambiguity was a deliberate attempt to get views. This group's other videos at most garnered 4k views, and the content of their most viewed video is very similar. It could just be a matter of trying to repeat their best video.
